Minsk invites book friends to XXX exhibition fair

Publishing houses from two dozen countries are gathering for the upcoming “Book Name Day”, and Russia has been chosen as the guest of honor, said Dmitry Makarov, director of the fair-exhibition. And the Minister of Information of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Pertsov confirmed to journalists that book publishing in the republic is not slowing down. Vice versa. This figure, according to him, is more or less twenty million. In other words, it is a ratio of more than two pounds per inhabitant of the country.

It is no coincidence that in his greetings to the book anniversary forum and the upcoming international writers’ symposium “The Writer and Time”, Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that “glorifying the centuries-old traditions of printing and Belarusian enlightenment, the forum has been recognized by professionals in the book world, has become a unique dialogue platform for humanitarian and cultural development”.

In the context of the worldwide devaluation of the concepts of truth, goodness and justice, prohibition and defilement of world literary classics, the president stressed, the book exhibition “helps to increase the role of books in the formation patriotic values ​​in society, strengthen friendship between peoples on the basis of creativity and mutual understanding.”

Lukashenko is sure that the jubilee fair-exhibition, organized under the slogan “The world of books without borders”, will cause genuine interest, give many visitors the joy of communication and sincere pleasure.
He wished the organizers, friends from near and far abroad, as well as all those who give the forum meaning, fill it with new ideas and meanings, fruitful work, creative success and memorable meetings, reports the presidential press service.

By the way, judging by the announced program of the event, presentations of books and publishing projects “Genocide of the Belarusian people” will also take place on Wednesday. And the next day, the presentation of the book “Essays on the history of diplomatic service in Belarus. Fates and events. 1919-1930” is planned. and the opening of the “International Quarter”.


The award ceremony for the winners of the National Book Art Competition is scheduled for March 24, and the final of the literary startup LitUP is scheduled for Saturday, BelTA informs.

On March 26, the Minsk city branch of the Writers’ Union will present its novelties at the presentation. And on the same day, all fans of the book’s products are expected at the solemn closing ceremony of the anniversary forum.
