The main theme of the talks will be the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, political cooperation, as well as discussion of the international situation. During the visit, a number of interstate cooperation agreements in various fields are expected to be signed. Before leaving for Beijing, Alexander Lukashenko told Chinese media that he considered it appropriate to develop trilateral industrial cooperation between Russia, Belarus and China. He pointed out that Beijing could join the already existing unified industrial policy of Moscow and Minsk. In the same vein, the Belarusian leader highlighted the opportunity to synchronize the Chinese One Belt, One Road project with the policy of the Eurasian Economic Union. For this reason, Lukashenko is sure that “you can get a lot not only from logistics and simple trade, but also from high technologies that go both ways.” Beijing also expects a lot from the visit of the Belarusian president. Belarus has already supported the Chinese plan for a peaceful settlement. On the eve of the visit, Lukashenko said Kiev “has no other way but to conclude a peace treaty now”. At the same time, he noted that the blocking of the negotiation process is due to the fault of the United States and EU countries. According to the Belarusian leader, Washington continues to push Europe “to follow the anti-Chinese path”. “If the European Union isolates itself from China, God forbid it will come into conflict with it again, and on the other hand America will put pressure – Europe can disappear,” Lukashenko believes. The Belarusian president expressed the view that China’s peace initiative on Ukraine is a step that “will have serious consequences”. “If this message is not heard by those to whom it is addressed, this will also have serious consequences,” Lukashenko said. He called Beijing’s initiative “the crowning achievement of China’s entire peaceful policy.”
