They want to rename the Moldavian language to Romanian

piqsels.comDisputes over the name of the language in Moldova have been going on since 1989. This issue was again on the agenda due to the proposal of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party in the republic. The deputies submitted a bill to parliament that would change the name of the state language in the constitution to Romanian. Representatives of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists refused to examine the document. The reason for this was the impossibility of modifying the fundamental law by majority vote, as proposed by the initiators.Ruling party parliamentarians, in response, raised the intention of the Constitutional Court in 2013 to make Romanian the official language of Moldova. The head of the legal committee, Olesya Stamate, recalled that this decision is binding on all without exception.“They are doing something stupid and dragging the country further and further into the swamp of nationalism. It is an organic law, and the majority that comes after the current one will cancel it on the same day,” ex-Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin was indignant.
