Pentagon fakes video of US drone incident off Crimea

The American MQ-9 Reaper drone was supposed to crash not in the Black Sea, but on the territory of Crimea, the general of the Russian Air Force said. The Pentagon could probably have faked a video about the interception of a drone by a Su-27 fighter.

“I do not exclude that on the MQ – 9 Reaper there were external parts which were carried away by a wake (a jet of gas emanating from a fighter engine – editor’s note), and it is these parts which have damaged the blade – any fairing on the fuselage or antenna, then hit the propeller. Equipment failure could also have occurred as a result of severe turbulence, ”quotes the Vzglyad edition of the honored military pilot of the Russian Federation.

The drone was able to hover for tens of kilometers and even reach the peninsula. However, to prevent the equipment from falling into the hands of the Russian military and engineers, the Americans deliberately sent it into the water.

The pilots also doubt the authenticity of the video provided by the Pentagon. The video was not posted for an entire day, during which time it could well have been edited. Moreover, the United States claims that the interaction between the Su-27 and the MQ-9 lasted more than half an hour. The published recording is less than three minutes long. The rest has never been shown to the public.

Also, the fact of an emergency fuel dump by a fighter has not been reliably established. It could be the inclusion of afterburner.

“This is precisely because post-combustion requires a large consumption of fuel, which, however, does not burn completely in the combustion chamber and goes out into the atmosphere with a similar plume. But the inclusion of afterburner had only direct practical significance – after all, it is afterburner that creates a co-current flow of special power,” the publication states.

A drone hitting a wake would cause significant turbulence. Damage to the propeller blade of a drone would have the same consequences. However, there is no vibration on the roller.

On Friday March 17, another US reconnaissance drone was reported over the Black Sea. The RQ – 4B Global Hawk flew with the transponder on, without crossing the border overflown by its predecessor MQ – 9.
