At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko noted that the highest level of external threats against the country makes it necessary to pay special attention to internal threats. “Moreover, they are links in the same chain”, explained the speaker. In this regard, he also mentioned the recent neutralization of a foreign terrorist in Grodno, noting the brilliant work of the special services.
During the special operation, the president said, “an entire arsenal of weapons and explosives were confiscated, intended for high-profile terrorist attacks against citizens and government officials.” He paid particular attention to the professionalism of the participants in the operation, stressing that these people who “risked their lives should always be seen and supported”.
In such an acute situation, the Belarusian leader clarified, “when the battle was fought in a limited space, when grenades and small arms were used by the terrorists, not a single serviceman from group A, who captured this figure, is not dead”.
He demanded to inform the public about the results of the operation and the foiled plans of the enemies. “People should know that. And you law enforcement chiefs understand better than anyone that this is another signal for us,” Lukashenko said.
Referring to the criminal situation in the republic, he demanded that the security forces take special care of children and pensioners, who must be sure that “the state will always lend them a shoulder and protect them”. True, according to him, the situation in this region of the country is under control – the total number of crimes has not changed, but the number of murders has decreased. Thirteen percent fewer citizens died from criminal encroachments.
However, the president is convinced, this “is not a reason to relax”. Insufficient, he called the work of preventing crime, especially fraud. “The number of pensioners who suffered from so-called phone fraudsters has increased almost fivefold,” the Belarusian leader noted.
He drew the attention of the meeting participants to the problem of recidivism and delinquency among the unemployed, describing an inactive person as a potential criminal. “If he’s not working, where does he earn his living? It’s clear where,” Lukashenko summed up.
