HE Dr. Al-Derham said that the university’s obtaining the international accreditation is in line with Qatar University’s mission to be known regionally for its qualitative excellence in education and research, and for being the preferred choice for students and researchers and a catalyst for the sustainable economic and social development of the State of Qatar. added "Qatar University has obtained institutional accreditation from Qatar University "Wask" WASC is an important and essential step to confirm the university’s commitment to its students and society to continuous improvement and to provide a high-quality educational environment whose objectives and procedures are in line with local and international standards.". He pointed out that the initiative to obtain institutional accreditation is among the initiatives that contribute to achieving one of the goals of the university’s strategic plan, which contributes to achieving the fifth goal (institutional excellence), which stipulates that Qatar University is known as a sustainable institution and a reference for organizational and operational excellence. His Excellency the President of Qatar University noted that this choice of the university will enhance its commitment to continuous improvement and provide a high-quality educational environment for the community, based on the mission of the Authority, which is to promote continuous improvement. Dr. Al-Derham praised the great support provided by the wise government to Qatar University in order to play its role. He also praised the role of the university’s board of trustees in this achievement and the role played by the committee concerned with the file and all the affiliates of Qatar University for the university to obtain international accreditation. In turn, Dr. Khaled Al-Khanji, Head of Strategy and Development at Qatar University, said that the university has made great efforts over ten years, during which many efforts were made in order to obtain this accreditation. Dr. Al-Khonji talked about some of the desired goals of institutional accreditation, such as providing a guarantee to stakeholders for the quality of developing operations at the university, facilitating the process of transferring students’ earned hours between accredited institutions, enhancing institutional effectiveness through continuous self-improvement, and spreading a culture of employing evidence in the university to support performance measurement. For his part, Dr. Moamen Omar Hasna, Director of the Research and Institutional Effectiveness Department and responsible for the university’s file for accreditation from WASC, touched on the nature, importance and stages of institutional accreditation, stressing that Qatar University has the necessary institutional practices and resources to obtain this international accreditation. He added that Qatar University has reached a level of institutional maturity and stability, which enabled it to succeed in achieving its goal of obtaining institutional accreditation. He indicated the four main criteria for a body "Wask" In the light of which educational institutions are accredited, represented in defining institutional goals and guaranteeing educational goals, achieving educational goals through basic functions, developing and applying organizational resources and structures to ensure quality and sustainability, and establishing an institution committed to quality assurance, institutional learning and continuous improvement.
