Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

The food industry of Russia and Belarus sets up the production of the necessary ingredients Fox News

This year, the Belarusian factory “Bellakt” in Volkovysk will start production of a range of products with reduced allergenicity. The most important ingredients for these products are hydrolysates. They plan to produce them in the same factory. This was said by the head of the department of the Russian Research Institute of Child Nutrition, Candidate of Technical Sciences Elena Simonenko.According to her, there is no more production of products with reduced allergenicity either in Russia or in Belarus, or in the whole of the CIS. For their release, a hydrolyzate is necessary. And this raw material is imported by a French company. Under the sanctions, reliance on foreign supplies becomes critical, because if supplies are cut off, large numbers of people, including children, could be left without needed products, Symonenko warns. “Import substitution problems can only be solved in cooperation with Belarusian colleagues, because Belarus has preserved areas of raw materials, many components for the food industry and baby food are produced”, a- she pointed out.
Accelerated import substitution is also needed for sourdough and yeast, which are used in the dairy industry and in winemaking. Sanctions again showed an urgent need for their own developments. In Russia, work in this direction is being carried out by the Kurchatov Genomic Center. Dmitry Fedosov, head of the laboratory of genetic technologies for viticulture and winemaking at the Kurchatov Institute, said that a prototype national database of genetic information has already been created in Russia, which will be stored in the country. With the help of Belarusian colleagues, a breakthrough can be made, Fedosov believes. For example, yeast strains are being tested that will be effective for native grape varieties. Colleagues from Minsk are already carrying out experimental drying of yeast, since they have bioreactors of their own assembly.Belarus also intends to create its own processing of cocoa beans for the confectionery industry, so as not to depend on imports. Innovative import substitution production will soon be launched at the Kommunarka Confectionery Factory, said Nikolai Komaev, Deputy General Director of Production.Today, most semi-finished products – cocoa butter, cocoa mass – the factory buys in other countries. The price of imported ingredients is increasing every day. As a result, these semi-finished products are now 30% more expensive than those the company plans to produce on its own, says Komaev. “After processing the cocoa beans, we get cocoa mass, cocoa butter, and all the added value we pay to the Europeans for their energy resources stays with us,” he says.
