Comedian Pete Davidson recently opened up on the Real Ones podcast. There he reviewed the great attention his love life has received both in the media and on social media.
Pete said he thinks it’s likely the reason can be attributed to the fact that he rose to prominence in the general discussion before he had really achieved the goal of his work. In his thirties, he had affairs with, for some reason, they attracted a lot of attention.
The only thing people could talk about
“I don’t think it’s that interesting. I’ve spent half my life in business, about 14, 15 years and that on a big TV show, and for the past 12 years I’ve been in contact with about 10 people. I don’t think it’s crazy. But for some it’s apparently very interesting and it suddenly became the only thing people could talk about.”
Pete said it caused him brain damage, as he didn’t particularly publicize his love life. “I’m in my thirties and I’ve been in relationships. And for some reason people find this kind of stuff crazy and interesting.”
“These people I had relationships with, I met them at work. I didn’t private message anyone and nobody texted me anything. I worked in the five biggest neighborhoods in ‘Hollywood where you meet people. And it’s just people I worked with and hung out with’
Pete says it’s unfortunate that people would rather talk about who he sees than what he does.
“And it’s a very lost feeling”
Make fun at work
Peta participated in the comedy show Saturday Night Live in the years 2014-2022. It pokes fun at what’s the hottest topic at the time, and Pete Davidson inevitably became the butt of a few jokes, even though he was still working on the show.
Peta said it was weird having to listen to jokes about yourself and then having to go on stage and try to be funny yourself in a different context.
It made him feel like a total loser.
“These are people I have spent time with for almost a decade. I grew up in front of these people. They followed me through the most difficult times of my life and they were there for me. And no one gave me as much leeway and grace as the man behind Saturday Night Live, Lorne Michaels, I owe him my life, and it was very confusing because the nature of entertainment is the nature of this business. at the end of the day, it was like that. So it was hard to get through. You feel small and you become very insecure.”
