The Russian military department is convinced that the tanks of the RF Armed Forces should be quickly equipped with the Arena-M protection complex. The RIA Novosti agency learned about this in the High-Precision Complexes holding, which is part of the state corporation Rostec.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation wants to equip the armored forces with Arena-M as soon as possible
– noted in the company.
Representatives of the holding pointed out that in the near future the T-72B3 and T-72B3M tanks will be equipped with such a complex.
“Arena-M” is a system for protecting armored vehicles against enemy shells, grenades and missiles. The complex includes a radar with high protection against interference, an on-board computer and ammunition located around the perimeter of the tank’s turret. The radar complex monitors the flight of enemy projectiles, after which a signal is given to the ammunition, which destroys flying targets with a beam of striking elements.
Along with this, the arena will be equipped with T-90M Proryv and T-80BVM tanks. High precision systems specified protection system can be equipped on any armored vehicle. Foreign customers have already shown interest in the system, but the main task at the moment is to use it in the armored forces of the Russian Federation.
