Children of the Doha International Center celebrate Garangao

The Doha International Center for People with Special Needs held a celebration for its students on the occasion of the revival of the Garangao Night. In her speech on this occasion, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, the center’s director, counselor and expert in the affairs of persons with disabilities, congratulated her sons and daughters on the coming of the middle of Ramadan and the revival of heritage on the Garangao night. Where the students wore the traditional folk dress in bright colours. The boys wear new white clothes, and they wear the “qahfiya” over their heads, which is a cap embroidered with colorful threads. Children chant while roaming through the neighborhoods "Garangao, Qaraqu, give us, may God give you the house of Mecca, to take you away.. Oh Mecca, oh Mamoura, oh mother of chains and gold, oh Nora". The specialists presented a beautiful celebration for the center’s students, including traditional folk songs, a fashion show for our students, and the center’s specialists presented a play in the puppet theater entitled Garangao Night in Arabic and English. Then, the students distributed the traditional food of Luqaimat, Harees, Thareed and Balaleet, then put on henna for the girls and choose the most beautiful traditional folk dress, and ended with distributing gifts and Garangao to the children and taking souvenir photos.
