Tourists surprised by rapid cancellation of flights from Russia to Turkey in April

Many tourists who had expected lower airfare and tour prices for unpopular dates ahead of the May holiday have been shocked: Flights from Russia to Turkey continue to be quickly canceled. Some of Turkey’s airlines have decided to reduce the number of flights, instead of lowering the price of air tickets to a level that would encourage consumers to buy, writes TurProm.

Corendon Airlines, which carries tourists from tour operator Fun&Sun, canceled several tourist flights, including two flights from Moscow to Antalya, as well as flights from Nizhnekamsk and Tyumen. The company said it canceled flights due to insufficient demand. Moscow tourists received assurances from the tour operator that all customers who purchased tours for the canceled dates will still be delivered to Turkey on AZUR Air flights.

Flight cancellations began with the cancellation of flights by Turkey’s national carrier Turkish Airlines. The airline’s flights from Moscow Vnukovo Airport were canceled on April 28, as well as May 1, 3, 4 and 5. In addition, Turkish Airlines subsidiary AnadoluJet has canceled several of its flights from Moscow-Domodedovo to Antalya airport.

Tourism market experts report that prices for tours in Turkey have already risen so much that they are forcing tourists to seek alternative destinations such as Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and the Maldives. At the same time, a decrease in the number of tourist flights could lead to an increase in air ticket prices in the future, which will negatively affect the demand for organized tours in Turkey.

A Russian woman living in Turkey explained how the country is preparing for the Eid al-Fitr holiday gathering. According to the blogger, the number of vacationers will increase in the resorts in the near future.
