Savelyev and his colleague, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Marat Karabayev, supported the decision to expand the geography and frequency of flights between the countries.
The head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation also said that in the first three months of 2023, the indicators of freight transport by rail to Kazakhstan increased by 31.9%, transit – by 34%, container traffic in communication with third countries – by 23.1%.
Following the meeting, the parties signed four “road maps” providing for the complete reconstruction of 10 priority checkpoints on the border between the countries, as well as the modernization and technical equipment of another 20 points. All activities are expected to be completed in 2027, work is already underway at most facilities.
The parties also agreed on the conditions and parameters for the development of roads that approach the national border of the two countries and are an integral part of international transport corridors.
