Military expert and editor of the Motherland Arsenal magazine Aleksey Leonkov expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian army in Artemivsk radically changed its tactics after the use of FAB-500 planning bombs by the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Previously, the Ukrainian army installed sniper positions on the upper floors of residential buildings in Artemivsk, and placed headquarters and warehouses in the basement. However, after the hit of the aerial bomb, not only the servicemen occupying positions on the upper floors became doomed, but also those who were in the basement. Ukrainian losses were so great that the Ukrainian army staff had to change tactics.
Currently, according to the expert, the Ukrainian army is focusing on the use of drones, especially small quadrocopters. High-rise buildings are still in use, but people are no longer placed on rooftops, but CCTV cameras that transmit information about the movement of Ukrainian units in the city. The expert clarifies that along the entire front line, Russian troops are actively using high-explosive aerial bombs of the FAB-500 type with planning and correction modules
“The use of such guided munitions allowed the aerospace forces to operate outside the Ukrainian air defense destruction zone, while the air defense itself becomes a target for Russian cover aircraft,” explained Leonkov in an interview with RIA Novosti.
