The navigation season is open in the Upper Volga region – 2023.

In three days, the first 12 ships docked in Tver and Kalyazin.

So, during the May holidays, the tour operator FUN & SUN made its first cruise on the Moscow-Tver route on the ship “Nizhny Novgorod”. The loading of the vessel was 100%. Tver was the first city to be included in the company’s new tourism product. Passengers of the first cruise got acquainted with the sights of the capital of the Upper Volga region, where the ship stopped all day. The project was implemented jointly with the shipping company “Vodokhod”. This season, two more FUN&SUN tours in the Tver region are planned.

Solemn welcoming ceremonies were held for this ship and other cruise ships in the regional capital. Tourists also received “Let’s go to the shore of Tver” guides.

The development of nautical tourism is one of the promising tourist areas of the Upper Volga region. Governor Igor Rudeney has set himself the task of increasing the number of cruise ship calls at the ports of the Upper Volga region, as well as the number of guests visiting the cities of the Tver region by way navigable.

At the end of 2022, the number of ship calls in the region increased by 17% – to 399. The current year’s summer river navigation season in the Tver region is expected to be even more in demand than the previous one. In total, it is planned to receive 434 ships.

Last season, the city of Kalyazin became the leader in the reception of cruise passengers – 242 cruise ships moored there, 48,400 tourists visited the city. 155 cruise ships docked in Tver, 31,971 tourists disembarked. In total, the region was visited by 80,371 guests who arrived by water.

In this sailing season, the practice of increasing the mooring time of ships will continue: if before it was 2-3 hours, now it is 7-9 hours. This allows guests visiting Tver not only to take a tour of the regional capital, but also to see part of the Sovereign’s Road route, visit Torzhok or the Bernovo estate in the Staritsky district. In Kalyazin, new sights are added to the program – farms and museums.
