Alexander Lukashenko recalled that Berlin was already defeated 78 years ago, and the 1st Belorussian Front under the command of Marshal Zhukov played the main role in it. “In these days of May, the workers and peasants joyfully held rallies, assumed increased work obligations: the war is over. And we have preserved this holy tradition,” said the president, whose words are quoted by BELTA .
Most of those, he said, who were invited to the Independence Palace on May 5, had known the joy of justly working-class victories and represented the most peaceful professions.

State awards and honorary titles have been bestowed on the company – a manufacturer of dairy products, teachers and doctors, cultural figures and scientists, builders and industrialists, equipment manufacturers, workers transport and economists, inventors and lawyers. Veterans of the past war have been appointed by the President as guardians of truth and a counterweight to those who deny the genocide of the Belarusian people and whitewash Nazism.
Addressing the audience, he said that among the laureates there was also a front-line soldier Valentina Baranova, who in 1945 reached Prague. “In November, you are five times 20 years old. We can only dream!” – noted the president with great respect and sympathy, adding that Valentina Baranova still participates in the work of the Council of Veterans of Grodno, leading an active life. Today, she received the Order of Honor.

“And I have a big request to make of you, even a combat mission: to live as long as possible, to continue to educate the youth. It will be very difficult for us without you”, addressed the president to the veteran. And the winner, in turn, admitted that she was happy to see Lukashenko not on the screen, but live, and thanked the president for the fact that over the past few years “Belarus has become a strong and free republic, independent, prosperous and peaceful.”
