The father of a Chelyabinsk school graduate complained about the Southern Urals State University. He thinks the university gives preferences to foreign applicants.
A resident of Chelyabinsk believes that the local university gives preference to foreigners in entrance exams, including those from Kazakhstan. According to him, the university only allows them to take internal exams, while Russian applicants are also obliged to provide USE results.
The man told 74.ru publication that many foreign citizens come to YurSU to enroll in state-funded places, while the competition with Russian applicants is unfair. He explains that the quality of the USE questions is guaranteed by the state, while the quality of the internal tests is ensured only by the university. In this regard, the father of the Russian candidate is convinced that YurSU overestimates internal scores.
However, the university management does not agree with him. Ivan Sukhikh, head of the Career Guidance and Admissions Department, said the college admissions campaign is being conducted according to federal rules. Intergovernmental agreements have been concluded with four countries – Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
- By entering the education budget form, they can provide both the results of the unified state exam and pass the university’s internal subject tests. As for the internal entrance tests, they are not easier than the Unified State Examination, so everything is on an equal footing here,” he explained.
