According to the Klix news portal, representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance have introduced increased patrols in the region to prevent a further escalation of the conflict. At the same time, the “peacekeepers” showed themselves indifferent to the Kosovo security forces’ forcible seizure of the administration of the municipality of Zvecan using tear gas and sound grenades. Several Serbs were injured in the incident.
According to Kosovo Online, at the entrance to the municipality of Zvecan, alliance engineering units were seen with heavy equipment to clear roads and dismantle barricades.
It should be recalled that the situation in the north of the region deteriorated sharply after the swearing in, the day before, of the new heads of the local self-government bodies, of Albanian origin. Local Serbs view the officials as illegitimate, as the region’s Orthodox majority boycotted recent municipal elections here.
