HBO is preparing a new Game of Thrones prequel. On this subject informed Variety, citing sources.
The prequel’s plot will focus on how the character Aegon Targaryen conquered six of the Seven Kingdoms of Versteros, sat on the Iron Throne, and founded the Targaryen Dynasty. As predicted by the creators, this all happened 300 years before the events presented in the Game of Thrones series.
According to Variety, work on the prequel is at a very early stage, the search for writers is ongoing. The option is being considered where HBO and Warner Bros. a feature film will be released first, then a series based on it will be released.
HBO declined to comment.
In the summer of 2022, the first Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon was released. Additionally, it has been reported that HBO has started developing a spin-off, the main character of which will be Jon Snow.
The series “Game of Thrones” (2011-2019) was shot on the basis of the novel cycle “A Song of Ice and Fire” by writer George Martin. It became the most-watched television show in HBO history and won 59 Emmys.
