HBO plans to release new Game of Thrones prequel about conquering Westeros
HBO (USA) intends to create a new prequel to “Game of Thrones”. It, according to Variety, will chronicle the conquest of Westeros by Aegon I of the Targaryen dynasty.
According to the story, Aegon I, along with his sisters Visenia and Rhaenys, conquered 6 of the 7 kingdoms of Westeros except Dorne. Thus Aegon I became the first king of Westeros and also the founder of the Targaryen dynasty. The action of the new prequel will take place approximately three centuries before the events of the original series.
The project is still in its infancy: HBO is looking for a screenwriter. A new prequel is planned in the form of a film, and the plot can then be continued in the form of a television series.
The latest entry into the Game of Thrones universe is The House of the Dragon. This prequel premiered in August 2022.
