In detail, the Russian Defense Ministry on Thursday announced the success of its forces in extending their control over two more districts of Bakhmut, stressing that the forces continue to destroy Ukrainian forces in the western part of the city.
The ministry said in a statement that the losses of the Ukrainian forces on the axes of Bakhmut, Krasny Liman, south of Donetsk and Kherson amounted to hundreds.
In a statement, the Russian defense said: “In the direction of Donetsk, offensive detachments captured two neighborhoods and continued to destroy the enemy in the western part of the city of Artyomovsk (Bakhmut).”
He added: “Operational and tactical airstrikes, army and artillery fire from the southern group of forces in the Krasnoye region, in the southwestern suburbs of Artyomovsk and Grigorovka, hit the 60th and 93rd mechanized units, as well as the 54th mechanized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian forces.
And the statement continued: “In total, during the last day (Wednesday), aviation in this area carried out six sorties, artillery units carried out 57 fire missions, on the other hand, paratroopers thwarted the enemy’s attempts to counter-attack from the flanks.”
The Russian Defense Ministry also reported that Russian army units destroyed an ammunition depot for Ukraine’s 66th Mechanized Brigade.

On the other hand, the Russian forces have found in a mine in the areas under their control near Bakhmut an arsenal of various types of weapons belonging to the Ukrainian military formations, and they are carrying out an inventory of the weapons and know the extent their use by Russian forces.
These weapons were found in one of the old salt mines 150 meters deep in Bakhmut, according to the Russian news agency Novosti.
It is worth noting that one of these mines was built in the times of the Soviet Union, so the level of its protection can even withstand the use of nuclear weapons.
Among what the Russian fighters found in this former mine were thousands of pieces of 7.62*54mm weapons and ammunition, which are used in the main rifle of the Russian forces today, which means that most weapons and ammunition found can be used by Russian forces, especially machine guns.
In addition, two American-made “Barrett M107” sniper rifles, 12.7 mm, military version, equipped with silencers, were found in the mine.
