Anatoly Aksakov, chairman of the State Duma committee on the financial market, said that the lower house of parliament could consider the draft law on the introduction of the digital ruble in the second and third readings as early as June.
“We have tabled a bill on the digital ruble which I think we will pass in the spring session. It has already passed the first reading. This means that they should be passed in June in the second and third readings .,” Aksakov said as quoted by TASS.
At first reading, MPs approved the bill in early March.
The document consolidates such concepts as “digital ruble platform”, “digital account (wallet)”, “digital ruble platform participant”, “digital ruble platform user”.
The status of operator of the digital ruble platform will be assigned to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. In addition, the Bank of Russia will be responsible for the security of the digital ruble, and will also be responsible for the organization and operation of the digital ruble platform.
