Edmonton – NHL superstar Leon Draisaitl has set up a weight room in Edmonton to stay physically fit.

«I’m already trying to train for an hour and a half or two a day. If I get up half an hour or an hour later than usual, that’s no problem at the moment, »said the 24-year-old top scorer of the North American professional league in an interview with Sport1. Unlike his teammates Dominik Kahun (Buffalo Sabers) and Korbinian Holzer (Nashville Predators), the Edmonton Oilers striker decided to stay in Canada during the Corona crisis.

Draisaitl is preparing for an even longer season break. «We have no plan at all at the moment. I believe that even the people who make the decision don’t really have any idea when and how it will go on. We have to wait a few weeks or months and then see what decision is made, »said the Cologne native, who was on the best way before the interruption due to the coronavirus pandemic, becoming the first German player to become the season’s top scorer To become NHL.

Draisaitl would still take a possible termination of the season athletically. “That would be something special for me, no question,” said Draisaitl with regard to winning the scorer rating. «I have never reached it and I was on the right track. If something got in the way, I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it. Then hopefully I’ll be there next season. »
