Arson attack in eastern Montreal: man arrested

At approximately 1:15 a.m., the flames took over an apartment building located on Lyall Street, near Ontario Street East. Residents of the six-story building were evacuated and the fire was quickly brought under control with no injuries.

The firefighters then sought assistance from the Montreal Police Service (SPVM). They noted the presence of several fire sources and transferred the file to the arson unit.

A 44-year-old man known to the police was arrested on the spot in connection with this event. The suspect will be met by investigators in the coming hours.
