Football in Spain: Atletico Madrid mourns 14-year-old player

Atletico Madrid mourns 14-year-old Christian Minchola from the club’s youth team. As the Spanish football club announced on Saturday on its website, the flags should be set at half-mast in honor of the promising young striker, who played in Atletico’s youth system in his sixth season.

“We are shocked by the sad news of our player’s death and deeply regret the loss,” wrote club president Enrique Cerezo and expressed his condolences to his relatives: “Atletico de Madrid and the entire sporting family will be in immense pain at these moments Be with Christian’s family and friends. ”

The Primera División club did not reveal the cause of death. Various Spanish sports media reports that Minchola’s death is not related to the coronavirus pandemic. Atletico captain Koke tweeted: “Anger and pain to say goodbye to Christian Minchella. Life is not fair.”
