Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

Sales slumped by 90 percent

Leipzig – The sports betting industry is in crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lack of events.

“We are very concerned. The business is practically down to zero. Not only in the betting shops that have to remain closed. But also online, because hardly anything takes place anywhere. It is a global shutdown, “said Mathias Dahms, the president of the German Sports Betting Association, the German press agency. “The sales volume has decreased by over 90 percent.”

The main concern of the umbrella organization of 16 companies active in Germany is small business owners who operate one or more betting shops. “In principle, these currently have no income. Large international providers may have a cushion, “said Dahms. At the moment it is difficult to say how things will go on.
