Rail traffic closures around Mainz

RHEINHESSEN – Anyone commuting by public transport these days must be prepared for closures: due to construction work from Thursday, April 9th to Monday, April 20th, rail traffic will be blocked on the Hattenberg Viaduct at Mainz Central Station and between Bodenheim and Oppenheim. There are the following construction phases:

Section 1: Construction work in Mainz Hbf: Due to bridge construction work in Mainz Hauptbahnhof, there are several restrictions on all lines running towards Ingelheim from Thursday, April 9 (8 p.m.) to Tuesday, April 14 (4 a.m.).

The RB 33 line, as well as all trains of the RE 3 line that begin and end in Mainz, end in Budenheim. The RB 26 line ends in Mainz-Rombach. The RE 2 line and the trains of the RE 3 line beginning and ending in Frankfurt will be diverted. The stops at Mainz Hauptbahnhof and Mainz Romisches Theater are no longer required, but will also be held in Budenheim.

A replacement rail service with buses will be set up on all lines between Budenheim and Mainz Hauptbahnhof. The replacement rail traffic cannot stop in Mainz-Mombach. Passengers from and to Mainz-Mombach can use the Mainz Mobility buses between Mainz Hbf and Mainz-Mombach or the DB Regio Bus Mitte bus line 620 between Mainz Hbf – Mainz Mombach and Budenheim.

Section 2: Construction work between Guntersblum and Bodenheim: Due to bridge construction work in Nierstein, line S 6 will be canceled on Easter Sunday, April 12, from 0 a.m. to 1 p.m. between Guntersblum and Bodenheim. A replacement rail service with buses is set up in this section. In addition, in the nights 10./11. April and 11/12 April the last connection of the day on this section.

Section 3: Construction work between Oppenheim and Bodenheim: Due to renewed bridge construction work in Nierstein, line S 6 will be canceled on Sunday, April 19, from 0 a.m. to 1 p.m. between Oppenheim and Bodenheim. A replacement rail service with buses is set up in this section. In addition, in the nights 17./18. April, 18/19 April and 19./20. April the last connection of the day on this section.

The morning amplifier trains of the RB 44 (vlexx) from Worms Hbf to Mainz Hbf are also likely to be affected on April 20. The trains departing at 6.41 a.m. in Worms Hbf and at 6.05 a.m. in Oppenheim are expected to be canceled without replacement.

The stops for rail replacement transport are not always located directly at the respective train stations. Due to the longer travel times of the buses, connection losses can occur. Depending on the connection, the SEV buses can extend travel times by 30 to 60 minutes.

Until April 19, a reduced timetable applies due to the corona situation. This not only leads to significant differences in the usual offer. The replacement timetables must now be adapted to the new, reduced offers, which is why not all construction timetables are yet available. The exact travel times of the individual trains and buses will, therefore, be published shortly. It is not possible to take bicycles on the replacement buses.
