“Believe that the whole sport changes”

Augsburg – Professional tennis player Philipp Kohlschreiber believes that the corona crisis means “the whole sport is changing”. He personally fears disadvantages.

“Our profession as a tennis player is brutally hit hard by this crisis because we are so international,” said the 36-year-old of the “Augsburger Allgemeine”.

Since last week, he has been able to train again with an exemption for the professional area. But he is still doing almost nothing. “A bit run with the dog. When it becomes a little more specific than it could go on in three and a half months, I will discuss the training plans with my trainer and fitness coach, »said Kohlschreiber, who normally has over 200 travel days a year.

“Of course there are restrictions and the effects of the virus are really terrible. But I personally enjoy being able to live an everyday life with my wife that I have never had before, »said the native of Augsburg. During the forced break, he tries to “relearn being at home”.

Kohlschreiber hopes that the coronavirus pandemic won’t end his career. «Of course I don’t want to end my career like this in the middle of this crisis. I want to go back to the tennis court again, »he said.
