Spain – Madrid begins easing – politics

Despite the increasing number of coronavirus cases, Spain started to loosen the drastic restrictions on Monday. Some companies, such as construction companies, were allowed to start operating. Shops and bars remain closed, public spaces are closed off.

Most people have to stay at home. Anyone who went to work by public transport received a protective mask. Police officers distributed millions of them to regions where there was no holiday. Spain is one of the countries most affected by the pandemic.

The number of deaths related to Corona rose to 17,489. With 517 new deaths in 24 hours, this was the smallest increase to date. The number of infections increased to 169,496. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that the decision to partially resume operations was made after consulting scientists.
