US agrees to discuss arms control issues with Russia

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Washington’s readiness for arms control negotiations, “which will strengthen the security of the United States and partners.” The head of American diplomacy said he announced this to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“In my conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, I confirmed that we are ready to participate in arms control negotiations that will strengthen the security of the United States and our partners. We will continue to promote verifiable and implementable mechanisms, ”Pompeo wrote on his Twitter.

Earlier, the US State Department press service reported that the secretary of state discussed a number of bilateral issues with Lavrov over the phone, including arms control issues.

Today, Pompeo admitted that the United States is not sure that the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was created in the laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
