White House national security legislation proposed by Hong Kong could lead to US sanctions and threaten the city’s status as a financial center, White House national security adviser Robert O’Brien said on Sunday.

It appears from this national security legislation that they are basically controlling Hong Kong and if they do … Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will not be able to certify that Hong Kong has a high degree of autonomy and if that happens it will be, O’Brien told NBC. There will be sanctions imposed on Hong Kong and China
