The World Health Organization (WHO) on Saturday recorded a record increase in the number of new cases of coronavirus in the world, amounting to 212,326 cases within 24 hours.

The organization’s daily report stated that the largest increases were recorded in the United States, Brazil, and India.

The previous record daily increase was due to last June 28, when it reached 189077 cases in the world.

The report pointed out that the number of deaths is still constant at about 5 thousand cases per day.

And the number of corona cases worldwide exceeded 11 million cases on Friday, indicating a new turn in the spread of the disease that killed more than half a million people within seven months.

The United States ranks first in terms of Corona cases worldwide, with the number of cases there two million 724 thousand, followed by Brazil in the second place with a million and a half million injuries, then Russia in third place with 674 thousand injuries.

On Friday evening, the United States recorded more than 57,000 new infections with the novel coronavirus, in the highest-ever daily toll, according to data published by Johns Hopkins University.

For its part, the World Health Organization on Friday urged countries affected by the emerging coronavirus to “wake up” and “engage in battle” because “the numbers do not lie.”

For the first time since the virus appeared in China in December, Latin America Friday surpassed Europe in the number of infections by 2.7 million cases, but Europe remains the most affected region in the world with almost 200,000 deaths before the United States and Canada (137,421) and Latin America (121,662).
