Survived 9/11 WTC terror attack, dies of a coronavirus

A man from a famous photo of New Yorkers fleeing during the demolition of the World Trade Center tower caused by the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, died as a result of coronavirus infection, his family told The Eastern Herald.

“Steve Cooper was delivering a newspaper in lower Manhattan 19 years ago when a police officer showed up and told everyone present they were running away,” his girlfriend told.

Cooper is pictured all the way to the left, in a black T-shirt, and the picture shows several other people fleeing in front of a cloud of smoke due to the falling of the Twin Towers.

– He didn’t even know he was photographed until two weeks had passed. He read the newspaper and saw his picture – says the girl who spent 33 years with Cooper.

– He was very proud. He kept that picture in his wallet and showed it to everyone he would meet – she added.
