Chelsea Beats Red Devils to reach FA Cup final

A goal each from Olivier Giroud and Mason Mount and an own goal from Harry Maguire helped Chelsea in beating Manchester United by 1-3 in the FA CUP Semi-final. Burno Fernandes scored the consolation goal for the Red Devils in the dying minutes of the game. With this win, Chelsea ended Manchester United 19 games unbeaten streak in all competition.

United were forced to make an unwilling change in the first half after Collision between Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly. It resulted in a long delay in the action. The ivory coast international was immediately taken to the hospital. Oliver Giroud scored the opening goal of the game in the first-half stoppage time. A low cross from Cesar Azpilicueta in the box found Giroud who flicked the ball with the outside of his left foot. However, De Gea should have done better. His fingertips on the ball were not enough to stop as the ball spin past the goal line.

Things turned worst for De Gea in the second half. A powerless long-range shot from Mason Mount skip past underneath him. It looked like a routine shot with a minimum force that De Gea would have saved any day. Harry Maguire’s own goal in the 73rd minute shattered Manchester United hope for a comeback in the match. Burno Fernandes scored his 9th goal of the season from the spot-kick in the 83rd minute, but it was too late for the comeback. With this victory, Chelsea registered their first win over Manchester United this season.

Next, Chelsea will face Arch-rival Arsenal in the final. Arsenal earlier defeated Manchester City by 2-0 in the semi-final. Last time Chelsea and Arsenal faced each other in the competition was back in 2016-17 final where Arsenal came out on top and defeated Chelsea by 1-2.

The final will be played on 1st August. The match will be played behind the closed doors at Wembley stadium just like both the semifinals.
