Bolsonaro recovered last weekend from the illness that he had come to call a ” flu ” and for which he remained in detention for twenty days, after testing positive on July 7.
The result of the examination of the first lady was known at a time when the president is on an official trip through the northeast of the country, the first he has made since his recovery.
This same Thursday, the Government confirmed that the Minister of Science and Technology, Marcos Pontes, who is the fifth member of Bolsonaro’s cabinet to contract COVID-19, has also tested positive.
Brazil, with 210 million inhabitants, is in absolute numbers the second country in the world most affected by the health emergency, behind the United States, and already accumulates more than 90,000 deaths and 2.55 million infected by the coronavirus.
Five months after the confirmation of the first case, the pandemic still shows no signs of stabilizing in the country, which once again recorded a new record both in the number of deaths and cases in a single day.
According to the last bulletin of the Ministry of Health, released on Wednesday, Brazil recorded 1,595 new deaths and 69,074 new infections in 24 hours.
