Ukraine terminates diplomatic relations with Belarus

Ukraine has suspended all official contacts with Belarus for an indefinite period. As reported by the news agency Ukrinform, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba announced this on the air of local television.

Kuleba said that Ukraine joined the European Union’s statement on the situation in Belarus. According to the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, the resumption of contacts between the two countries will be discussed when Ukraine is confident that it will not suffer reputational, moral, and ethical losses.

At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted that there are no grounds for the termination of diplomatic relations between official Kiev and Minsk, and the Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine will continue his work.

Earlier, Kuleba said that Ukraine is considering joining the EU sanctions against Belarus. At the same time, according to him, Kiev is not yet familiar with the specific provisions of restrictive measures, but Brussels’ approach is supported.
