The head of the republic of Chechnya said on his page on the social network that Russian President Vladimir Putin had awarded him the rank of major general and also transferred from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Russian Guard. Kadyrov thanked Russian president Putin and said that he was the “most loyal infantryman” of the head of state. How to interpret this decision, “MK” discussed with experts.
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin conferred the military rank on the Head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov by decree No. 478 of July 22, 2020.
“I received the news of this decision, as it should be according to the charter, at attention. During the telephone conversation, the president himself read out the decree and congratulated me on this event, wished me further success, ”Ramzan Kadyrov admitted on his page on the social network. He also clarified that he was being transferred to the Russian Guard.
It is generally accepted that the military rank of Major General can be obtained by length of service or for outstanding service, but in reality, everything is not so simple. Military expert Igor Korotchenko explained this in a conversation with the MK correspondent:
- This is a Presidential Decree, and the decision is made on the basis of a combination of circumstances. I can say that Kadyrov has established himself at the forefront of the fight against terrorism in the North Caucasus, so awarding him the rank of Major General is a natural and justified decision. The North Caucasus is a complex conflict region, there are frequent problem situations, and Ramzan Kadyrov copes with them in a timely manner, ” explained Korotchenko. – I believe that this decision strengthens the Russian vertical of power in the North Caucasus, and it is absolutely legitimate – it is a recognition and confirmation of Kadyrov’s military merits because he is a security official with extensive experience in this area.
Judging by the comment on the social network, Kadyrov himself adheres to approximately the same opinion:
“I have always said and I repeat once again that I am a loyal infantryman of our president, ready to carry out his order of the highest complexity on any continent. We have everything for this – will, determination, complete readiness, technology and, so that no one has any questions, weapons legally issued by federal structures, ”he writes on his page.
Recall that Kadyrov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation. In 2009, Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree granting him the special rank of police major general. Also, the head of Chechnya was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, fourth-degree, the Order of Courage.
