Thousands of women marched in Minsk today, demanding the resignation of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, and students gathered to protest the arrest of colleagues.
For the first time since the protests began, fighters for the rights of members of the LGBT community appeared with rainbow-colored flags on the march of women in Minsk, reports Tanjug.
Homosexuality was decriminalized in Belarus in 1994, but the AP states that strong stigmatization is still present.
Authorities have not allowed any LGBT organizations in the country to be legally registered, and same-sex marriage is banned.
