Police officer who strangled black George Floyd released on $ 1 million bail

Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin , charged with the murder of black George Floyd, has been released on $ 1 million bail. According to NBC, he was released from arrest on Wednesday and is due to appear in court next March.

Chauvin became known after the publication of a video of the detention of Floyd, suspected of theft. The suspect tried to resist, so the police officers used force. Chauvin applied a painful technique – he pressed down Floyd’s head with his knee. The detainee at that moment shouted that he was suffocating. He died a little later, which led to large-scale protests in the United States and abroad.

Three of Chauvin’s partners – he faces up to 40 years in prison – are accused of complicity in the murder, they were also fired from the police.
