Highest death toll from coronavirus in one day worldwide

The number of deaths from coronavirus worldwide reached a record number after 13,997 deaths were recorded in 24 hours, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO).

It is the highest number since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and puts the total number of deaths so far at 1.8 million.

The cases of coronavirus in the last day were 693,000, for a total of infected during the entire health crisis that already exceeds 83 million. Although in this case, it is not yet close to the record number of 841,000 infections in a day that was lived on December 20.

The United States continues to be the most affected country worldwide: according to the Johns Hopkins University count, to date, there are 20,085,408 cases, while 347,202 people have died.

Brazil is behind the US in the number of deaths. Deaths amount to 195,394 since the beginning of the pandemic and a total of 7,698,694 accumulated cases of the disease have been confirmed.
