Congress confirmed Joe Biden’s victory, winning 306 electoral votes

A few moments ago, the American Congress confirmed the victory of the newly elected president Joe Biden, reports CNN.

By counting the votes in Vermont, Biden and newly elected Vice President Kamala Harris (Harris) crossed the threshold of 270 votes needed to win the presidency.

Congress confirmed all 306 electoral votes.

The Senate and the House rejected the objections to the exclusion of the electoral votes of Georgia and Pennsylvania for Biden. Republicans also opposed electoral votes in Arizona, Nevada, and Michigan, but the proposals failed before reaching a debate.

This confirmation came after Trump’s supporters stormed the American Capitol and made riots.

A joint session of Congress, which is usually a ceremonial step, was suspended for several hours because of this.
