Reshaping Perspectives and Catalyzing Diplomatic Evolution

A 7.7 earthquake plus a tsunami in the southern Pacific put various regions on alert

An earthquake of magnitude 7.7 that struck the South Pacific has caused a tsunami, confirmed by the Australian meteorological agency.

“Confirmed tsunami” reported through a tweet the agency, which specifically alluded to a direct threat to Lord Howe Island, about 550 kilometers east of the Australian continent.

The New Zealand authorities asked residents on the north coast to move away from the beaches and the seafront due to the possibility of tsunamis, after a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in the south Pacific.

“We estimate that New Zealand’s coastal areas will experience unusual and unpredictable strong currents” following the earthquake that struck the Loyalty Islands and New Caledonia.
