At least three people were killed in an earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale in the Chinese autonomous region of Xinjiang, reports UPI .

The quake occurred late last night about 100 kilometers from Aksu district, and the epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Seismologists recorded 10 more small earthquakes, and the strongest was with a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale.

A total of 65 houses were damaged or destroyed, of which 16 completely collapsed.
