No case of Coronavirus found in North Korea

The representative of the World Health Organization in North Korea, Edwin Salvador, said that North Korea had informed that it had tested 23,121 people to detect the Coronavirus from the beginning of the epidemic until April 1 and that all tested results for the virus were negative (not infected).

Salvador added that North Korea said that 732 people were tested from March 26 to April 1.

At the beginning of the Corona pandemic more than a year ago, North Korea described its efforts to banish this virus as a “matter of national existence”, as it closed its borders, prevented tourists and deported foreign diplomats, and this continues to severely limit cross-border traffic, and quarantine tens of thousands. Of people who have developed symptoms.

Pyongyang confirmed that it would boycott the Tokyo Olympics this summer, to protect Korean athletes from “the global public health crisis caused by the Coronavirus.”

North Korea still asserts that it has not found any case of Coronavirus in the country, which is a widely questionable claim, given the weak health infrastructure and its porous borders with China, its economic lifeline, according to the “Associated Press.”

And WHO officials reported that North Korea no longer provides the United Nations agency with the number of people suspected of having symptoms of the Coronavirus who are in quarantine, according to the “Associated Press .”

The “Kovacs” program supported by the United Nations to secure the procurement of vaccines for countries indicated, last February, that North Korea may receive 1.9 million doses of the vaccine against the Coronavirus in the first half of this year.
