Biden decided to tighten arms sales in the United States

American leader Joe Biden presented to the public a package of arms control laws. This can already be called the most serious attack on the industry in the 21st century. Supporters of the incumbent believe that his actions will make America safer, opponents are convinced that he is going to “trample” the right granted by the Constitution.

US President Joseph Biden announced a number of arms control bills.

“The presidential administration is committed to confronting not only the arms crisis but what is actually a public health crisis,” Biden said in a speech to reporters.

So what are the proposals from the Joe Biden administration?

Under the new legislation, the president wants to end the practice of ghost weapons. This is the name for those “firearms” that are assembled at home and do not have series and numbers. Some gun shops sell weapons in parts, from which it is easy to assemble such a “ghost weapon” – and not get into any bases.

In addition, Biden also instructed the Justice Department to propose new regulations within 60 days that would prohibit making weapons more accurate or lethal at home.

Also, the US president’s compelling plans to pass three arms control laws through Congress at once.

“I believe the Senate should immediately pass three bills passed by the House of Representatives to close loopholes that allow gun buyers to bypass checks,” Biden added.

“We should also ban assault weapons and high-capacity stores in this country. There is no reason why a person would need a weapon that can hold 100 rounds,” Biden is convinced.

In addition, the American president proposed repealing the Law on the Protection of the Legal Trade in Arms. It prohibits arms manufacturers from filing charges against sellers if weapons purchased from them were involved in a crime.

Also, in addition to limiting the processes of selling weapons, the American president wants to tighten requirements for people who want to buy weapons. Joe Biden intends to end the sale of weapons at exhibitions where there is no thorough verification of a person’s personal data, as well as to abolish the regulation allowing Americans to buy weapons without the approval of the special services if they could not make a decision in 3 days.

What Joe Biden is proposing is a very broad assault on the arms industry, as well as on American gun ownership. The president’s opponents drew attention to the fact that his plans contradict the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which provides Americans with weapons. However, the president himself does not agree with this.

“Nothing I’m going to do affects the Second Amendment in any way. These are bogus arguments, suggesting that this is a violation of the rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment, ”said Biden.

“But not a single amendment to the Constitution is absolute. From the very beginning, you could not own a weapon that you would like to own. Since the beginning of the Second Amendment, some people were not allowed to have weapons. So the idea is just weird to suggest that some of the things we recommend are against the Constitution, ”continued the US President.

However, such arguments failed to convince the Republicans. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said: “President Biden plans to trample our constitutional rights under the executive branch. He is soft on criminals but infringes upon the rights of law-abiding citizens. I will not tolerate this. And so do the Republicans in the House of Representatives. Follow the Constitution! ”

One of the most prominent senators and potential successor to Trump, Ted Cruz, said: “The answer to this challenge is not to restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens under the Second Amendment, but to prosecute and attack violent criminals with all their might.” …

It is already clear that Biden’s weapons reform will be difficult to pass hearings in Congress and Senate. In addition to the GOP’s general focus on defending the Second Amendment, their resolve is influenced by the financial issue. The National Rifle Association is one of the largest donors to the Republicans, and if it is seriously affected by the Biden laws, many conservatives will be deprived of funds for campaigning. And this is also a weapon – even if it does not kill people.
