Biden’s aide announced new anti-Russian sanctions

The US presidential administration is preparing another package of sanctions against Russia, CNN reports . Jake Sullivan, Biden’s National Security Assistant, spoke about this.

“Firstly … it is important for your viewers to understand that we have imposed sanctions against Russia for the poisoning of Alexei Navalny … and we are preparing another package of sanctions that will also be applied in this regard,” Sullivan said on the air. TV channel CNN on Sunday.

Oppositionist Alexei Navalny is currently in prison # 2 in the Vladimir region. The court decided to replace his term with a real one due to numerous violations of the rules for serving a suspended sentence. He was detained on January 17 at Sheremetyevo airport upon his return from Germany, where he was undergoing treatment.

Biden said earlier this week that Navalny’s death in prison would have “catastrophic” consequences for Russia. “I told [Putin] that this is of great importance,” he said at a press conference following a meeting with the Russian leader.
