$6.9 billion.. Another US grant to support Ukraine and “NATO” to fight against Russia

The United States has allocated $6.9 billion to help Ukraine confront the Russian aggression and to support NATO countries, according to the draft budget published by the administration of President Joe Biden, on Monday.

The latest funding is part of a series of military aid announced by Washington after Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine last month and will be used to “enhance the capabilities and readiness of US forces, NATO allies and regional partners in the face of Russian aggression,” according to what the White House announced.

The draft budget allocates about $1 billion to the Departments of Defense and State and the US Agency for International Development “to counter the harmful influence of Russia and to meet new needs related to security, energy, cybersecurity issues, disinformation, macroeconomic stability, and the resilience of civil society.”

The money was included in Biden’s draft budget for 2023, which provides funding for administration priorities for the year in question and is subject to amendment as it must be passed by Congress, where the Democratic Party dominates the House and Senate narrowly than the Republican Party.

Washington increased its aid to Ukraine after the war engagement with Russia, including by providing $2 billion in security assistance and new equipment, as well as $1 billion in humanitarian aid announced by the White House last week.

Biden recently allocated more than $1 billion in military aid, including Javelin portable anti-tank systems and “Stinger” anti-aircraft systems, as part of a $13.6 billion aid package reserved for Ukraine .

The administration announced the provision of more than one billion dollars to fund humanitarian assistance efforts for those affected by the war.
