Moscow, Russia: On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described what is happening in the city of Bucha, near the capital, Kyiv, as a “fabricated attack” and a threat to international peace and security.
This came as a comment from him on the accusations against Russia of committing a “genocide ” in the city, as pictures spread showing the spread of corpses in its streets, with Moscow being held responsible.
“Another fake attack was launched in the city of Bucha in the Kyiv region after the Russian forces had left according to plans,” Lavrov said in a meeting with UN Deputy Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths .
“There was a theater show a few days later, and the fabrications were spread across all channels and social networks by Ukrainian actors and their Western sponsors,” he added.
This morning, European officials called, on Monday, for an “international investigation” into accusing Russian forces of committing “genocide” in the city of Bucha.
And Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki called for the formation of an international commission of inquiry into the “genocide” committed by “the Russian army in Ukrainian cities, including Bucha.”
On Saturday, the Ukrainian army published pictures of corpses scattered on the sidewalks of the streets of Bucha, on the outskirts of the capital, Kyiv, after the withdrawal of Russian forces from it.
“All these people were executed and killed with a bullet in the back of the head,” Anatoliy Fedoruk, the mayor of the city that the Ukrainians recaptured from Russian forces, said in press statements, noting that about 300 people were buried in mass graves.
Pictures of dozens of corpses and destruction in the streets of Bucha were also spread on social media, while Ukrainian media reports reported that 57 bodies had been found in one of the city’s mass graves.
