Moscow/ TEH:  On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that more than 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers “voluntarily surrendered to Russian forces in the besieged coastal city of Mariupol for weeks.”

“The 1,026 Ukrainian soldiers of the 36th Marine Regiment in the city of Mariupol voluntarily surrendered their weapons and surrendered,” the ministry added in a statement.

In contrast, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry indicated that it “has no information” about the surrender of any of its soldiers.

Ukrainian Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk said that he “has no information about the surrender of a Ukrainian marine brigade in Mariupol,” according to press statements .

Earlier in the day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyyy mocked Moscow’s assertion that the war against his country “is going well and will achieve its goals.”

Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that the military operation launched by his forces against Ukraine “will undoubtedly achieve its tasks and objectives,” considering that Western attempts to isolate Russia from the world ” is impossible.” The Eastern Herald online magazine .

He also described the goals of the Russian military operation as “noble” as it aims to “help the people of Donbass” whose independence from Ukraine has been recognized by Moscow.

On February 24, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine , followed by international rejection and severe economic sanctions against Moscow, which stipulate to end its operation that Kyiv abandon plans to join military entities and remain neutral, which the latter considers an “interference in its sovereignty.”
