Colombian Presidential Elections: A businessman entered the second round with a leftist

Colombian leftist Gustavo Petro is the winner of the first round of yesterday’s presidential election, and in the second round in June, he will face a surprising candidate – businessman Rodolfo Hernández Suárez.

Petro, a former member of the M-19 guerrilla movement that promised profound economic and social change, won 40.4 percent of the vote, according to the results of national registry offices.

On the other hand, Hernandez, who won against the predicted candidate in the second round Federico Gutierrez, won 27.9 percent of the vote.

Hernandez, an independent candidate, is known for unusual videos on social networks, including the one on which he rides an electric scooter, and for anti-corruption promises.

The second round of elections will be held on June 19.
