“At 2:26 pm there were multiple shots fired at Graceland Cemetery” in Racine, where a man shot dead by police officers was being buried, the city’s Police Department reported on Twitter.

“There are victims but unknown how many at this time. The scene is still active and being investigated,” the report on Twitter added.

Local media reported that five people were injured during the burial of Da’Shontay King, a man killed by police in late May, according to the AFP news agency.

The United States has been shaken in recent weeks by a shooting at a New York state supermarket, which left 10 dead, and another at an elementary school in Texas, which caused 21 fatalities.

In this context, federal legislators from the Democratic -in government- and Republican parties today sought to agree on some basic rules to impose some form of firearms control.

The Democrats have a narrow majority in Congress and to pass any legislation of the kind they need the support of a large part of the Republicans, who are usually reluctant to restrict the use of weapons.
